Kreischer Optics Family... a clear vision since 1948

Grounded in Family
In 1933, seventeen year-old "newsie" Emil Kreischer designed and constructed his own telescope, spending a grand total of $6 for various parts. His interest in optics drew him to work in the Bell and Howell model shop during World War II. He then began Kreischer Optics in a one-bedroom apartment in Evanston, Illinois in 1948.

Kreischer Optics Family
Today's KREISCHER OPTICS family

Almost 60 years later, with significant growth and clients including the US military, Kreischer Optics has been able to remain a family enterprise. Emil's daughter Debbie runs the office, and his son Cody is now the owner and president.

Cody Kreischer began young, mopping floors and cleaning the shop in fifth grade. By college, the young protégé had already compiled eight years working his way through every phase of optical manufacturing, from curve generating to hand polishing precision surfaces. After completing his Masters Degree at the University of Arizona's Optical Sciences Center with emphasis on lens design and optical testing, and working three years as a Senior Engineer at Recon Optical in Barrington, Illinois, he devoted himself full-time to Kreischer Optics in 1987.

Today, Kreischer Optics, Ltd. has grown to include 14 full-time employees, including 2 engineers and 10 opticians. Those familiar with this established manufacturing company agree that the strength of Kreischer Optics lies in the skill, experience and versatility of our opticians, supported by state-of-the-art metrology and the latest computer-controlled manufacturing equipment.
